collection, monitoring, and analysis.
In EOS SCADA, Firebird should not be considered only as an archive database for historical process data. Because project information is stored in the Firebird database, Firebird is a fundamental part of the SCADA project's database infrastructure.
Important: Even if MongoDB or another database is used for archiving, Firebird is still required. The archive database choice does not eliminate the Firebird requirement for EOS SCADA project information.
Therefore, during EOS SCADA installation, first determine the Firebird version required by the EOS SCADA version in use and then install the appropriate Firebird package.
The Firebird version must be selected according to the EOS SCADA version. The table below summarizes the packages used with the relevant versions.
| Firebird Version | EOS SCADA Version | Usage | Download |
|---|---|---|---|
Firebird 2.5.9Firebird-2.5.9.27139_0_x64.exe
|
EOS SCADA 2023 and 2024 | Database required for the software to operate correctly. | Download |
Firebird 5.0.4Firebird-5.0.4.1812-0-windows-x86.exe
|
EOS SCADA 2026 | Database required for the software to operate correctly. | Download |
Firebird 5 or later is required for EOS SCADA 2026.
When installing EOS SCADA 2026, an older version such as Firebird 2.5.x should not be used. For the 2026 version, Firebird 5 or a newer EOS SCADA-compatible version should be preferred.
The official Firebird Project website currently provides Firebird 5.0.4. The official download page provides both x86 and x64 installation packages for Windows.
The relevant EOS SCADA installation package provides
Firebird-5.0.4.1812-0-windows-x86.exe for the 2026 version.
Firebird installation packages can be obtained from two sources:
Using EOS-provided packages is a practical method because it provides direct access to the installation file recommended for the relevant EOS SCADA version.
In EOS SCADA, the database that stores project information should be distinguished from the archive database that may be selected for high-volume process data.
Important architectural point:
MongoDB or another database technology may be used for process data archiving. However, because EOS SCADA project information is stored in Firebird, this choice does not eliminate the Firebird requirement.
Therefore, an EOS SCADA system may contain both the Firebird database required by the project infrastructure and an archive database selected according to project needs.

Firebird 5 or later
If you are using EOS SCADA 2026, pay particular attention to the Firebird 5 or later requirement. Even if MongoDB or another database is selected for archiving, Firebird remains necessary for the EOS SCADA project database infrastructure.
