1. General Structure of User Controls

Variable elements in EOS SCADA screen design are placed on the screen using user control objects. User controls can be created directly using the User Control Engine, or previously prepared design templates can be used through the User Controls Quick Access Template Library.

Basic approach: User control engines are used to create designs, while the quick access template library provides storage, grouping, and reuse of created designs on different screens.

In addition to the templates supplied with the software, users can create their own templates and add them to the quick access library. Templates prepared in other projects or by different SCADA designers can also be imported and used in existing projects.

2. User Control Engines

EOS SCADA software provides numerous user control object engines, industrial shapes in vector format, and parametric settings for user control objects to create visual and interactive designs.

User control engines provide the fundamental design infrastructure for creating the control objects to be used on screens and configuring their properties.

3. Adding a User Control Using the Motor Toolbar

To provide quick access to user control engines, the corresponding motor button may be hidden on the quick access button bar. To make this button visible, click an empty area of the screen design window and then use the Control-A button.

After the motor button is displayed on the quick access bar, the user can click this button to open a panel containing a visual list of the user control engines supported by EOS.

  1. Click an empty area of the screen design window.
  2. Click the Control-A button.
  3. Click the displayed user control engine button to open the engine list.
  4. Select the user control engine to be used.
  5. Add the selected control to the desired location on the screen.
  6. Edit the control properties to complete the design.

After completing the design, the user control can be selected and right-clicked. The control can then be added to the quick access template library by using the ADD AS TEMPLATE button at the bottom of the settings window.

Result: Once a user control has been designed and added to the library as a template, it can be reused in different screen designs.

4. Adding a User Control Using the Quick Access Library

The User Controls Quick Access Library consists of group tabs that can be edited by the user. Users can organize their prepared templates under different groups for easy access.

To add any template in the library to the screen design, simply drag the relevant template from the quick access library onto the screen and drop it.

Basic usage:
Select the template → Drag it onto the screen → Drop it → Edit the properties if necessary

5. Selecting a User Control

Multiple methods can be used to select user controls on the screen. The selection method can be determined according to whether a single control or multiple controls need to be selected together.

  1. Single selection: Use SHIFT + left mouse button on the user control to be selected.
  2. Multiple selection: Multiple controls can be selected by using SHIFT + left mouse button on the user controls to be selected.
  3. Selection rectangle: Press and hold the left mouse button at a point in the upper-left area of the screen and drag toward the lower-right corner to create a selection rectangle enclosing the user controls.
  4. Tree menu: Click the relevant user control listed under the corresponding screen node in the tree menu with the left mouse button.

These methods can be used to select any number of user controls on the screen.

6. Deselecting a User Control

To deselect user controls, simply click once with the left mouse button on any empty area of the screen.

7. Changing the Selection Rectangle Line Color

The user can change the line color of the selection rectangle displayed during selection by using the F9 (Function 9) button.

F9: Used to change the selection rectangle line color.

8. General User Control Design Workflow

Step Operation
1 Prepare the fixed background and graphical elements to be used on the screen.
2 Determine the appropriate user control engine or ready-made template for the variable elements.
3 Place the user control on the screen using the motor toolbar or quick access library.
4 Edit the user control properties and complete the design.
5 If necessary, save the completed control to the library using ADD AS TEMPLATE.
6 Select or deselect the user control using one of the available user control selection methods.
7 The prepared user control can be reused on different screens.
